FAQ

What does RHS offer for Work Experience?

At Richmond High School, we offer flexible work experience opportunities that allow students to negotiate dates that suit both their family commitments and employer availability. This flexibility helps ensure students can gain valuable hands-on experience in industries that interest them, while balancing their personal schedules effectively.

More information about Work experience can be found on the Department of Education’s Website.

How can I organise Work Experience?
Students interested in organising work experience should discuss their plans with Mrs Gibbs or Mrs Bennet in the Pathways Office. To ensure student safety and compliance, official paperwork must be completed so that students are covered by the necessary workplace insurances before placement.
Do I need to leave school at the end of Year 10 if I want to be part of the 10GO Program?
No, you do not need to leave school to participate in the 10GO Program. The program allows you to continue your studies at Richmond High School while gaining practical industry skills through a VET course and work experience. Participation in 10GO can also lead to further study in Years 11 and 12, including School-Based Apprenticeships or Traineeships, additional TAFE-delivered courses, or traditional ATAR pathways, providing a range of options to support your future career goals.
What are School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships?
School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) allow students in Years 11 and 12 to start a career while completing their HSC. With an SBAT, students can work part-time in an industry, gain hands-on experience, and complete formal training through a VET course or TAFE. This flexible arrangement means students earn a wage, gain nationally recognised qualifications, and can transition smoothly into full-time employment or further study after school.
