High potential and gifted education (HPGE)
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive using the High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) framework, which includes:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our HPGE opportunities
2026 marks the introduction of The IGNITE Program at Richmond High School, designed to enable high potential and gifted students to thrive and fulfil their potential in a stimulating and supportive environment.
The 2026 program is made up of one Year 7 class, catering for up to 28 students who have a desire to extend themselves and a passion for learning. The IGNITE teaching and learning programs follow the NSW Curriculum for Year 7 and 8 and provide high challenge learning activities tailored to students' needs, interests and abilities.
